Its been a loong day today. Was at work most of the day. Papa took the Corolla to get it serviced. Turns out the people at the dealership said that the tyre on the driver’s side was damaged from the inside and that it was so badly damaged that it was ready to burst any moment. It needed to be fixed right away and they asked for 300 bucks!!! Papa called me at work and I said this was the case. I remember last weekend, I was driving back to the apartment and the car bumped high in this huge pothole that I missed. Maybe it was caused by this! Now, I have a pretty new car and it has warranty on it, but the dealership said that since this was not a “defect” per se, they would not reimburse us. Finally after much khitpit, they agreed to discount 50 bucks! Bah! It was still superexpensive to get the tyre replaced! Papa had to stay there for FIVE hours to get it fixed!
Now, on the brighter side I got to drive papa’s car all day today! **beaming** Now there are a lot of differences in dad’s car and mine. It drives like its flowing water, it is spick and span no stray papers, receipts, or CDs, when you turn the player on you can hear bhajans, there are very few hindi film CDs, and even after using it for about the same time as mine, it still drives much better than my Crolla’. I guess thats how papa’s cars are always! Does not have to bear the brunt of rough, fast driving on highways.
Again, I have my best buddy, my Crolla’ with me. I think I am going to try to keep it with me for as long as I can! After all it did save my life in a bad bad wreck two years ago. Hopefully, no more surprise potholes will spring up and my buddy will not have to be ‘hospitalized’ again now Touch wood! : – )
Wonderrrfullll….. I get the gold here tooo… finally…
Sounds so familiarly sweet to the way I feel for my bike. Not really a hep modern bike, but I love it more than my life… Not only has it stayed with me longer than all relationships, but also most of the ‘friends’ I have come across, and has been with me on just the highways for more KMs than anobody would ever have driven for a lifetime…
btw, whats this bad bad wreck all about? how did it save ur life? Would like to know…
hi ITNL–haha indeed you get the gold this time!:)
and my corolla’s still here too.thankfully didnt have to give it up then
hospitalized it and it was back as good as new
So you know the attachment one has with one’s vehicle. Used to be like that with my kinetic in india. Gave it away to this other girl who needed it when we moved. Sigh. I still miss it. And now there’s the corolla. and like you said..sounds so familiarly sweet to teh way you feel for your bike:)
and arre this bad bad wreck was a bad bad wreck that happened two years ago. If you had taken a look at the corolla then you wouldnt have believed somebody came out alive of there. Phew! Still gives me the chills. BUt I am here
Good hai… the man and the machine, both are fit and fine, and deeply in love with each other… or shud I say ‘the person and the machine’?
kya ho gaya teri driving ko..jo tu potholes miss karne lag gayi

Missed a Pot hole and a tyre was damaged from inside , didnt get technically what this means ???
Your post about the dental stuff was good and nice , Keep posting some technical stuff and also may be the basic “To DO’s” for Dental care , so that we can keep our Caninnes in good condition …. (Tooth Pain is the worst of pains says my friend who suffers from it ….)
again Dj stole my line. ” potholes in america….”..hehe. really.
and 250$ for changing a tyre. wow thats expensive. so did u try to turn ur dad’s car into the way u keep urs…like cds and recepits, etc…hehe
lol reminds me of the first time i ‘hit’ my chevy.. and that too was during tennis class if u remmeber! lol it hurts when u see ur baby in pain! lol and yeah.. be careful or else ull have to get changes made with teh brakes too like i did on the lanc. “kids and fast driving” *sigh*

so india has started outsourcing its potholes to us.. so that indians like u staying over never really get to miss their country
americans are so caring!!
I drive my dad’s car when i’m back home in delhi… and mind you.. since it belongs to my dad, i’ve to be extra cautious always.. kuch ho gaya car ko.. to main to gaya!!
and like neetie said… you shud have a name for ur car…. something like.. champa, chameli, basanti… blah blah!!
LOL… reminds me of Amitabh’s Rampiyari..
Was trying to remember which movie was it though.. probably one of Aaj ka Arjun type (read faltoo) movies of his. :p
BTW now I know why accident rate in the US has gone up in the last four years.
Poor potholes… they had to bear the brunt of some kiddo driver. :p Kiddin… hey btw drive safe dudette… having gone through a similar bad bad wreck once in Philadelphia I can very much relate to what you’ve written here! Why cause so much pain to the insurance companies?
(ok I had thought of sounding serious for once… but dunno somehow I always end up making a silly comment in the end.
)
Hi Kaush..
wow!! thats a lot of money for change of tyre! but cooool that u found the silver lining in that black cloud!

Yes yes Deepak, ummrica main bhi potholes hote hai aur kuch raasto pe toh BAHOT! aur problem yeh hai ki yaha sab fast chalaate hai toh potholes will do a lot of damage!and LOL my corolla is very very lucky to get an owner like me!!
Hehe PV — i meant missed a pothole meaning didnt see a pothole and went through it! that damaged the car. and thanks for liking the dental post. Yes, I am planning on doing several of those in the near future
good to know its being appreciated and haha its true! tooth ache is the worst ache…esp coz half the times you cant do anything about it quickly! sigh. thats what dentists are there for right?
haha Vicky, yes potholes hote hai ummrica main aur bahot! and yes DAMN expensive aur you know what…i did not tutn dad’s car into mine..but HE turned mine into his. The front was absolutely clean and know what…the tank was full! I remember last time I saw the fuel it was almost empty! hahah dad filled it up for me! gotta love dads.
LOL GNEXTDOOR, I remember the chevy being hit! we were just getting out of tennis class…you were about to cry! but i like dyou chevy and i like you lanc even better! thats some hot car! and yes gotta be careful with the brakes , i’ve realizedd that

haha Manpreet, indeed americans are soooooo sooo soo understanding! kabhi watanki yaad naa aaye isiliye sab kuch aisa karte hai! lol. anyways I know dad ki car chalaate vaqt I am 100 times more careful. god forbid kuch ho gaya toh. and like i told neetie…abhi tak kuch naam vaam nahi socha “saadi crolla’” is good…maybe we can christen her sometime soon
kuch sochti hoon
arrre Fundoo, your comments are always taken seriously after a good laugh that is
:D but yea darn the potholes! and you tooo? had a bad bad wreck in philly? kya hua thaa? i understand it totally then. and yes I shall be careful..you know kisi aur darr se nahi but the fear and trauma caused while dealing with stupid insurance companies! that is good enough to deter someone and motivation enough to drive carefully! sachi!
Yes Mehul, heck of a lot of money par kya karein, had to get it fixed! and yes I did write a post a while ago. that was bout dad’s old car, his chevy that we had to give up
it was quite an emotional post if u remember
hope you are doing well
oye kaush, ummerica ma potholes. the bisleri types there tell me that the roads are like makhan, wahan potholes kahan se? of course u r not the bisleri types, elco paani poori proved that but still, do drive safe. I tell that to everyone, life is neither worth the punctuality nor the thrill.
true true Priyangini, life is NOT worth the punctuality or the thrill. With this particular pothole..I dont know it sprang up from nowhere..and to those bisleri types..makhan up their backside! Roads are not as bad but they are still bad! and the worst thing is that the speed limit as it is, is high and potholes are chaalak and hidden so most of the times unless you are going REAL slow, you hit them BLAH! and ELCO ki yaad kahaan dilaaai…SIGH..mazaa aa gaya tha slurrrp! maaari taraf thi ek be khaine aavjo
