Weekend Khatam…

Had a very uneventful weekend. Worked both days, decided I wanted to study some but ended up doing nothing, thanks to sheer exhaustion. Instead, I saw Mangall Pandeyy. What a waste of time too! I shall spare the agony of even writing another review on this movie. Sigh.

To my delight, papa had filled the fuel tank of the corolla completely and I did not have to worry about that today. The car is fine now. The new tyre looks nice but it seems like the other three old ones don’t like it! I don’t why, but it just looks like it haha.

It is Sharad Poornima today and also the last day of garba and dandia ras at the mandir hall. I did not go this year on any of the days. My brother and cousin went for five days and are going today too. I am just not interested this year. I do not know what it is but I used to not miss garba at all and used to wait around the WHOLE year for navratri to come by. This year, it feels different. There seems to be a bigger void than all the past years. There is nothing that motivates me to get ready, be happy, and dance all night. So I decided not to go, not even on sharad poornima much to mom and dad’s surprise who kept wondering, is saal suraj kahaan se uga!
Instead, took a long drive by the lakeside under the full moon. My idea of garba at sharad poornima was to drive over the lake listening to ‘dholi taro dhol baaje’ at the highest decibel. The night was bright with shining stars and the moon’s light (well the sun’s to be technically correct). Had the sunroof open and let the light filter in as I drove over the lake. It was the most exhilarating feeling as I could see the moon’s reflection over the lake and the ripples that the waves caused in the light. Only thing missing was him! Would have made the night perfect. Sigh. I guess a lot of “perfect nights” shall remain imperfect until the time we are together again.

This week is full! Well half the week is full. Have break from Thurs-Sunday. Two tests, patients, and community screenings packed into the next three days. Atleast the time goes by faster that way. Sigh again.

Was driving on 751 right over Jordan lake. the bridge is LONG on that side and there is no one there at 10 pm on sunday night either..so drove real slow and it was so much fun!

Now I know how much I miss graba and dandiya! *sigh* I used to be an avid dandiya fan… (btw garbas are more of a free style dance for me though…). And you bet! I used to wait badly for those nine days of navratri! Unfortunately the school terminal exams always used to happen right between navratri! :| I hated those exams… grrr..

And playing dandiya is fun only when you have the ‘right’ partner with oou, hai na?! Still remember some of the standard songs at navratri… the songs without which no dandiya celebration can get over… pari hoon mein… ye desh hai veer jawaano ka… dholi taaro dhol baaje… bholi soorat dil ke khotey… and many many more! *sigh*

(I think I am getting senti now… wipes magarmachh ke aansoo from his spectacled eyes..)
