Height of Pathetic Msgr Usage!
It is around 5 pm on the east coast. A certain girl enters her apartment and walks directly to her room. She surfs the net for a few minutes and then decides she needs to go to Walmart. She is in her room with her room door shut. She wonders if her roommate is in the apartment in the room across from hers.
Conversation on a certain Yahoo! Messenger….
kaush: are you in the apartment?
berly: Lol yeah hon
kaush: LOL
kaush: i m gonna go to Walmart soon
kaush: wanna come?
berly: I would like to, but I’m not feeling so hot, and I neeeeeed to study.
kaush: well its a long trip, walmart, this school that I have to drive to tmr and all
kaush: oh okay
kaush: test tmr!
kaush: ?/
berly: yea, Italian
kaush: what do you wanna have for dinner tonite?
berly: dude, i’m just walking over to talk to you
kaush: lol…oh okay!
That was the chat conversation that I had with my roomie…verbatim! No joke! She was in the room across from mine. We had quite a good laugh over it and it was all in good humor. However, thinking about it now, its really kinda sad. And although both of us arent that bad, there are people whose complete lives are devoted to being online. On one side, people make lasting friendships online sometimes, somebody needing help recieves tons of it through forwarded messages. And on the flip side, we are calling our friends less and less relying on offliners to talk to them. Sometimes we don’t see or talk to friends for long periods of time but through forwarded messages.
Without pricking too deep into it, let me say we did get a kick out of this little incident. Twas’ fun “talking” online to the roomie in the next room
:P hehehe…
Sigh. The face of things to come????
ME FIRST??!!
*looking arnd in disbelief?!*
I know Kaush… I know exactly what you mean. And it sure is sad. I am like that with my bro but we do the same on phone as our service is from the same company so 10mins. free.
So I call him for dinner - on the phone.
I give him wakeup call - on the phone.
He asks me his doubts on something in his assignment on the phone!!
The whole time…we are just in the next room.
haha NUPUR–you wont believe it..but i just came from YOUR blog and i see you commenting here!!! waise I grabbed the silver there

but see you know what I mean
and on the phone? haha i thought me and my roomie were bad..we do chat like that often.
Kya free mins hai toh USE karni hi padti hai kya?
tsk tsk…sigh kya karen? next time..you shake your bro up and pour some water to wake him up…you take a garam chamach and touch it to his hand and say khaana ready hai..you take a…okay okay I am going overboard
SILVER IS MINE
Well, there used to be a forwarded cartoon sometime back on a mother calling her son to dinner on email while staying in same house…u seem to hv lived that … come to think of , u were always a cartoon na ;-P *rushing off*
You bet! Messenger has reduced the long distances and increased the short ones eh?! But sometimes these mesengers can be a boon re… imagine your roomie wearing headphone with music at full volume… she won’t listen to you even if you shout by her name at the top of your lungs!! The easiest way would be to do a Ctrl+G and say some $%^#^%^
Another good use can be in classrooms… when your prof goes on and on with his boring to death lecture, just ping your mate sitting next to you and shuru ho jaao. The condition here is that you need to keep your face straight. (For some reason it is very easy to notice wide grin on my face while someone talks something silly on messenger… especially with a
smiley… :D)
egg-jacktly.
so now u should start making amends.
start calling up ppl…and talking with them instead of chatting with them…
hmmm…my no. must be there in the list somewhere na…hehe…
Your post reminded me a forward that I read two years back. That was for “E-Heights”.
Here I’m mentioning one of the E-Heights from that as it is apt to mention here
HEIGHT OF ISOLATION: Two persons sitting side by side using emails to communicate with each other.
Yes, it is really sad but aren’t you making too sad rather than communicating on YM? Whereas we are losing personal touch and if we…… Simply my thought.
I think you won’t mind if I say it “Height of Isolation” instead of “Height of Pathetic”
missed all the medals..
btw… this happens all the time here in my hostel.. we all have got airtel connections where we have 1000 mins free each month… so even if the person stays just the next door… we make sure that each and every free min is utilized completely…
hahahahaa that was funny.. we just have a single room apartment and still communicate through messenger sometimes…lol
and mere liye walmart se kya laye ?
hi kaush, all I can say is hey bhagwaan, kevo jamaano aavi gayo. Seriously, how can you do that? I mean kicks is fine, but still? Maybe thats how it is there I guess here it is not that bad yet but I do remember one incident when one of my collegues and I walked for about a mile together without talking to each other because both of us where busy with someone else on the mobile. and like you said, sign of things to come.
Oh btw… haju ek Gujju! Blogging karta karta ek varsh viti gayu pan koi Gujju na malyu ane bey athvadiyaa maa bey Gujjus na darshan thayi gaya! Uff uff! Kaush.. tari vaat sachchi chhe, blogger world maa aapna banney sivaay pan bija ganaa Gujjus chhe!

lol me and my sister do that sometiems too!!! technology..
this messenger is succch an addicting thing… and the things we do and the things we put behind for those daily chats..
grrr DJ! fine you get the silver and fine i have lived that! but…….cartoon aur main? naaah! abhi khud cartoon ho iska matlab yeh nahi ke har koi aisa ho DJ..tsk tsk..reality check karona :P:P **smirking**
haan sahi hai Fundoo, they can be a boon. But LOL classroom drama? trust me, i have been a partof that too and LOL it is SO not easy to keep a straight face. It was hard enough in the times of paper chits, now toh messenger is even harder! haha wouldnt it be funny if the prof caught you and came over and looked at the chat? Waise knowwhat, the wireless in the classrooms blocks a lot of messenger usage here! grrrr control control!
haanji Vicky point noted! I am going to start making amends right away..and mhmm urrrr your number? Did you give it to me? kuch yaad nahi aa raha
**ducking**
Hi Silkymoon, yes I do remember that email. I had gotten it too once. also your comment “Yes, it is really sad but aren’t you making too sad rather than communicating on YM? Whereas we are losing personal touch and if we…… Simply my thought.”
Shall be there soon.
Yes we are losing personal touch but didnt quite understand wha tyou meant in the rest of the comment? By the way, I have not forgotten the road to your blog
Interesting!!
What happened to those good ‘ol days when you will enter the house and take your roommates name accompanied by two lambi lambi Punjabi ke gaalis and he would reply with the double the number of gaalis and then the gaalis will just increase exponentially. LOL
In India we would goto a friends room (in hostel) and open it with kicking the door hard and then throwing water oh his face as soon as he moves towards you (and guess what, this was not during holi…LOL)…***Sigh***
Those Good ‘Ol Days…I tell you…:(
haha Manpreet sahi hai lage raho! hota hai hota hai..free cheez ka istmaal karna chahiye..but really it is pathetic sometimes hahaha…I do that too..brother will be downstairs and I will be in my room and we will talk on the messenger!
sahi hai Mehul ..we used to do that too when we were in the dorms…. sigh! sachi its sad and funny! and Walmart se I got a quote for you “blog more often” hehehe
haha Priyangini, it does happen…did you read Mehul’s comment? Happened to me too..two people in the SAME room talk online sometimes..sigh. and lol i hear on that phone pe baat karne waali baat…its getting there…face of thigns to come really…..hope it doesnt become as bad as we think it will..
