Divine or Diva ? DDoB Part II

I apologize for the delay. Busy weekend, as usual. Also, a funny thing happened this afternoon. My heart was racing and I was having heart palpitations for some reason - its that racy feeling of the heart where you pulse is strong and high. Mine was a whopping 110! I wasn’t running or anything. It stayed throughout the afternoon and I have no idea why? My heart still feels a little fluttery and light. Maybe it just needs some “shugga lovin’ ;-)

It was RS’s birthday on April 1st. RS - you are the most bootiFOOL, wonderFOOL, April FOOL baby I know :-D Here’s to many many more fun years to come for you!

Divine is synonymous sometimes with “extremely pleasant”, “serene”, and “delightful” in the dictionary. When she came up with the name “Divine Divas of Blogsville” I was delighted! I said, “Yep, I’d like to be divine and a diva” and so the name came about. I cannot reveal the answer yet, but if you have not sent in your entries yet, you still have till midnight EST today!

Women, well…..most women are of a divine, loving, inherent faith disposition. They are serene from within, and even though they might be a little stern on the outside there is an innate goodness and faith that lies within. Maybe thats why they are women are mothers. The patience, sacrifice and the tad bit of insanity that goes with it does need divine intervention :)

When I first got in touch with Colors, I thought - she speaks little but seems to be very sweet. She seemed like a no-nonsense fun girl with a good heart. Getting to know her better - I realized she was so different from me and yet the same. “Simple and cheerful” were the two words that Chandu used to describe Colors. I whole heartedly agree :-) Deepak tells us that “her travellogues and posts are fun.”

Here is what she has to say about herself :-D

I am originally from a small but beautiful state of Sikkim in India. My mom’s from Nepal and dad’s from India. So, I have been raised among two different yet similar in its own way cultures. I did my schooling in my hometown and then moved to Pune for my Engineering. That was the first time I lived away from my parents which was a great experience…as I learned to be independent. It also helped me open up because I used to be a very shy girl before. I made lots of friends there and also met the love of my life there. It also exposed me to lot of different cultures from India which I was not much aware having being lived in a closed community. After a brief stint in Pune I moved to US to pursue my career in software field. Its been almost 3yrs now since I came to US.
I don’t know if I conciously do work to make a difference in society but my new job with UN has given me a oppurtunity to deal with people from all around the world who are trying to make a difference in thier own way. It’s very inspiring. Being from such a small town as Gangtok, it makes my family proud about the fact that I have made it this far on my own. I get overwhelmed to see my cousins looking up to me as their role model.

I love to travel as maybe obvious from all my travelouges. I also love to do adventure sports like sky diving, kayaking, river rafting. I love to spend time with my better half who complements me in everyway. I love to read, watch movies, listen to songs, try different cuisines.

Feel like you know her better yet? Shy and adventerous, fun and frolic, there are more colors to the colorful colors you might know :) Ricky sums it well when he says this about her - “She is the most adventrous girl in the blog-world. Her sense of adventure is reflected in her writings. She also loves to travel and writes one of the best travelouges. She doesn’t seem like one but she is a little shy girl, who takes her time to open up. She has a very different sense of humour but it always end up making me laugh. She is one my of my best friends in blog-world. ”

Heard enough of her travellogues already? Here is a little excerpt of one of the MANY places she has written about :) one of her colorful travellogues-

Our next stop was the North Carolina Arboretum which we decided to go via the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a long scenic road that connects the Great Smoky Mountain National Park with the Shenandoah National Park both of which are a part of the Appalachain Mountain range. It is supposed to be America’s favorite drive and the ride is beautiful. It twists and winds up and down the mountains providing breath taking close-ups of the mountains and the rivers. The roads are in perfect condition and V had a great time driving the van. I too wanted to drive on the road.”

While they can have that innate sense of calm and divinity, women can be wild and vivacious, fun, adventerous, bold, and full of straight up spunk and guts. We all like to bring out that side of us sometimes. We all wish we could be a little more outspoken sometimes. Thats when the calm meets the storm, the divine meets the diva within - one of many facets of a women and her image.

“hot, wild and sensational! C’mon she is the only who takes my non-veg jokes the way they are meant to be - just jokes! Like her spunkiness and full of life attitude. Stay that way Bhu! Always a live-wire !” - I quote thee Deepak!

So while I went searching for the spunky, zesty divas out there, the Gal next door is also the bold diva at the next blog :-) Bhumi! Vicky describes her as “a good friend. a sport. doesnt hesitate in voicing her opinions and thats whys they count a lot” .A taste of what she is from her blog -

Okay so here is an observation and conclusion from my observations over the past year or so..
women get old… what happens? menopause… mood swings, bitchyness out of no where… ahh we know the list! If you see someone in your family go though it… I am sure men will say that they dont want to live long enough to live thru it with their wives!
but now…
what we dont know..
is that men go though these things too..no no not menopause!
i know men have no cycle as such… but im tlaking about the random ‘doggieness’ and crap
what kinda crap? complaining ALL the time… literally complaining non-stop.
It’s like when was the last time somehting good came out of your mouth ?!?!?!?!?!?!

Here are a few lines from her for DDoB -

almost 22, and I go to a all womens college!! which i think is an appropriate thing to mention for thispost! I will be graduating may 14th *YAAAY* with a bachelors in accounting..but as most of u all know, the true passion lies in the art field..i might probably be one of the most difficult poeple to understand out there hehe i am typically shy with new company…but then the wild side takes over!
so we all know that once u turn 21… what do u do… u get drunk! and wasted and all that… but till date… even thjough i have 2 more months to go… but i havnt done any drinking as being a 21yo…i think its abt being responsible… and kinda feels good to be one of few non drinkers at a college campus.

Mind you though, she does have immense artistic talent! Bhu, I need to come to your house and see these for myself! They are gorgeous! Ricky ji’s analysis is this (Gnextdoor - you decide if its right ;) ) “She is a very fun-loving girl who speaks her mind. She enjoys her life and has a naughty side to her. She changes her templates faster than I change my posts. She redefines the word “typical”. She has a sensitive side to her which may not be visible to many people.”

There we are - two more faces of the versatile woman - the divine and the diva. We all have a bit of both in us - a little more of one than the other but we do have both ;)

Quote of the day: “Women are not inherently passive or peaceful. We’re not inherently anything but human.” Robin Morgan

Both divine and diva are words of the day. Your thoughts?

Quiz Question # 2: She is a powerful businesswoman and started her company in a small garage in 1978 when women entrepreneurs were still rare. Today, she is one of the most prominent business names to reckon with in India. A zoologist by degree, she is also a brew master - the first one for a woman in India! Someone I admire a lot. Who is she?

Hint: None this time. Its easy :-D

If you start posting only two girls/women every week, your DDOB will go upto next Women’s Day…LOL

“shugga lovin’”…you listening to lot of rap these days it seems. Do tell me when you feel “bootylicious”…;-)

    My hearty wishes for RS.

Atleast I am 50% right that the first answer is a “she”.

I think you are using too cheesy lines for women…LOL. I mean words like divine, inherent faith disposition, innate goodness are good in dictionaries and poetries. It’s not a practical language to describe women of today.

  13. Colorson 03 Apr 2006 at 11:37 pm link comment

    Sent the answers…to both Q1 and Q2 :)

  14. kaushon 03 Apr 2006 at 11:37 pm link comment

Ricky haha…nahi nahi..that wont happen…you gotta wait and watch! and yes you were fifty percent right! and LOL…sure its too cheesy…but I wont say its not practical for todays women :-)

  15. kaushon 03 Apr 2006 at 11:38 pm link comment

    colors thanks got em!

  16. Rickyon 03 Apr 2006 at 11:42 pm link comment

Colors is no doubt one of my best friends in blog-world and with her my friendship has crossed over to real-world too. I think we chat almost daily and now she also bugs me with phone-calls every other day. She was supposedly my “bakri” for April fool too but some technical problems resulted it being the other way round…LOL

I had to coax her, infact threaten her to write about herself as she was a little uncomfortable writing good things about herself. Anyways, I don’t even have to read what she wrote coz I know it by heart now…LOL. She is the best travellor and travelouger in blog-world. I just wait for her new adventure all the time.

I think I have said enough about you Colors. I need a special Thank you and maybe a pack of rum-chocos…ha ha

    y do u say so?

  18. kaushon 03 Apr 2006 at 11:47 pm link comment

Ricky good good you coaxed her into writing it :-D warna we wouldnt have gotten to know her in her own words :) and yes..same question as Mehak.

  19. Rickyon 03 Apr 2006 at 11:48 pm link comment

What is this Bhu? You haven’t got drunk and gone wasted at 21…ahhhh. You need to do it before you leave college. Why are you going to college then? Atleast goto the last pub-crawl of the season. It has everything, good looking guys, drinks, body-shots…and whatever else you want.

I think I have summed up about you in my two-liners. I forgot to mention that you have a very good artistic side to you. You are now in a country of oppurtnities. You should use it to your advantage to fllow your dreams. Degree in Accounting will help you later when you will sell your paintings for millions and will need some accounting.

  20. Rickyon 03 Apr 2006 at 11:51 pm link comment

I thought Divine is a word used for Goddesses. It’s a spiritual word and has nothing to do with women. Men can attain divnity too with the right spirituality.

Diva is a good word though. It symbolises women of today in some sense. Although, its again a word made famous by Miss Worlds and Miss Universes.

  21. kaushon 03 Apr 2006 at 11:51 pm link comment

Ricky shall let Bhumi reply to that :)

  22. kaushon 03 Apr 2006 at 11:56 pm link comment

Ricky Actually yes. divine literally means a word for the Goddesses. but Here it meant “b. Of things: Of surpassing beauty, perfection, excellence, etc.; extraordinarily good or great. Freq. in trivial use.” and more such synonyms :) Also, Diva made famous by Ms. Worlds? hmmmm….?

  23. Rickyon 03 Apr 2006 at 11:56 pm link comment

@Mehak-Kaush - As I said, divine is a spiritual world and can be applied to both men and women. Also, in today’s time I don’t think most regular people can achieve divnity so easily. It’s not practical for today’s fast times.

“Inherent faith disposition” is a too heavy line to describe anyone. It’s a good line for the Rushdie’s and Arundati’s to use.

“Innate goodness” is again too big line for anyone. In this world if one can reasonaly good then that’s enough. Also, most people today are selfish so its hard to use such big words that may not hold meaning in real world anymore.

  24. Rickyon 03 Apr 2006 at 11:58 pm link comment

All the three words/lines can be used for only one person I know of who lived in today’s world and that was Mother Teresa. I don’t know how many Mother Teresa’s are there among regular people…

  25. Colorson 03 Apr 2006 at 11:59 pm link comment

LOL Ricky…you blaming “technical problems” for me not falling for your gag!!! C’mon! You know it very well that I could’ve recognized you even without the caller-id :P

**THANK YOU** Ricky for managing to coax me into submitting it…. the rum-chocos are on their way…should reach by ur night time…finish them off before you wake up though! LOL

First of all Wishing a very Happy Birthday to RS.

Colors - She was only Nepali blog friend I do have. First time I noticed her in DJ blog when she wrote something in Nepal and DJ called her Dai but she was saying “I’m not Dai but I’m Bahini.”

And she came my page and went hers too. When I came to know she was from Sikkim then I didn’t thought she was a Newar girl but must be a Nepali but some other Mongolian :) .

@ Colors- It was really nice to know and of course meet you just two months back. Before that we used to chat and write mails. She is the first blog friend I met with. She is really very sweet and lovely girl like her name. And she is the one who always encourage and support me. She is a caring girl After Preeti, she the one with whom I’m more open and I always turn to her when I have to share something.

You are real gem and happy to find you :D . And thank you so much for being there whenever I need you.

Hey you know - what my boss said after you left, “She is very talented Girl.” I’m happy to know that you are role model of your cousins. Of course you are. There is no doubt.

Yes, I love to read her travel account and she is the most adventurous girl in the blogsvile. :) . Pukuli, Keep enjoy every bit of life….. :D

  32. Silky Moonon 04 Apr 2006 at 3:04 am link comment

@ Bhumi - I got to know her at Few Mini VBM which used to have after the grand VBM party a year back. She is very open minded and bold girl I ever meet in the blogworld. I used to shout, “BHUMIIIIIIIIII, Ab bus bhee karo.” :D . You remember na those days :) .

I don’t know much about her but of course reading about her I must accept that she does not hesitate to give her true and honest voices. That’s the quality she has got which make her differ than other. Bhu never change yourself.

I didn’t know she has this talent too. The sketches are really beautiful. Keep it up.

    belated wishes to RS ….
That was nice post , Im dont know anything abt any divas of Blogsville , but was good read ur post and now I will start visting their blogs . I was following galnextdoor blog from lot of time (though never commented on it ) it is interesting , that to from a gemini (that makes it even more) I agree with what ricky wrote there and add that I see a pure mercurian driven human in her blogs ……..

On a last note (actually debating to put it or not) extremely pleasant, inherent faith , innate goddess ,feel they are good in poetic sense but coming to practicality hmmmmm…… and how I wish it was true with all women or atleast most or atleast those whom I know ……

Kaushie…this is indeed great not only do u talk about 2 beautiful girls of Blogsville but do that brilliantly.

Both the Divine and the Diva are not only good friends but also great bloggers. Reading Colors travelogues left me wanting to come to the US. As for Bhumi…its a laugh riot to see DJ n Bhumi in action in a VBM…they make everyone silent n go on forever n ever.
love Colors for her versatility n colorful perspective to life and Bhu for her devilish antics (made visible with our last posts the french ones >:))
Though never said it before but here i say that its been great knowing both of them. Wish them both the very best in life now n forever.
