Prayers for VT Families

In what is now the deadliest single shooting in the United States of America, a gunman opened fire on a calm college campus at two different locations this morning. 33 have been reported killed so far. Virginia Tech is four hours away from home and the alma mater of a family member! Ever since I heard the news this morning, I have been filled with shock, anger, sadness, and a bunch of mixed emotions. What could possibly make a person open fire on innocent people, simply sitting in their classrooms studying??? And why has this happened time and again in this country? One of the shooting locations was at Norris Hall which is the enigneering building which I am sure was full of international students, especially Indians, given how popular Virginia Tech is for engineering with people from all over the world! B and I will be praying for the families of the victims and hope that the victims’ souls rest in peace whereever they are. They do not deserve to be victims of such a mindless massacre. Details of the story are here

This massacre opens up fresh memories from last year when an Iranian American Mohammad Taheri-Azar drove his SUV at lunch time through my alma mater, the UNC Campus, intending to kill students hanging out in the central location on campus! I remember being very close to the area of this attack and can remember every detail of the shock at the moment. It was absolutely unbelievable that such a thing could happen in a peaceful town like Chapel Hill, and now Blacksburg, Virginia. What could Taheri-Azar and now this shooter at Virginia Tech have possibly achieved by these acts of terror? That too on a peaceful college campus?

Our prayers for the victims and their families. May the fallen rest in peace.

It is really sad what has happened. Really it is unknown why people do this — Neeraj was just telling me that one of the profs that had died was an alumni of IIT Kanpur, Neeraj’s alma matar. NP is also praying for the families of the innocent victims.

why do arms on the first hand be available to people! blame the law-makers! that way india is a little better sparing UP & bihar where arms trade is as good as west
