Ways to Procrastinate

Shamelessly picked out from various sources. (Google Zindabad!)

1. Clean your hard drive to make more space.

2. Clean out the Internet history and cookies folders in the windows directory. Do it one file at a time with an Internet connection open so you can see where each goes and make sure you don’t delete any shortcuts you might want to use again.

3. Erase the passwords you stored in the logon preferences in your Outlook software. Don’t give up until you remember the password without calling customer support.

4. Clean out the windows directory temp file one file at a time. Open them all in notepad to be sure there’s nothing you want to save.

5. Install a hard drive.

6. Install a printer and try to get it to print envelopes and labels correctly.

7. Install a network.

8. Help your best friend fix her word processing program so it will print envelopes and labels correctly just like you made yours do (after 10 hours of trial and error).

9. Call customer support (any big company) for help on any matter.

10. Try to untangle the phone cords for your computer, telephone and answering machine and fax and then make all devices work again.

11. Clean off your desk (so you can find the floppy disk you need).

12. Clean out your filing cabinets in preparation for cleaning off your desk.

13. Clean out your CD ROM and floppy disk storage drawers.

14. Look for the manual that came with your computer.

15. Call customer support to find out IF a manual came with your computer.

16. Get and read your email.

17. Read JesseBerst. Follow all the links in all the side stories… then try to find your way back to the first page.

18. Check your favorite message board.

19. Create a home page.

20. Make changes in your web site.

21. Call your grandfather and try to explain what a home page is. Get in the car and run over to his house for help after he tells you about his new business venture: designing web sites for business.

22. Search the web for anything that comes to mind.

23. Shop for airline tickets online.

24. Compare the features of the new computer you bought two weeks ago to the new, improved model touted in the computer catalog that arrived yesterday.

25. Try to find a single file on your backup tape.

26. Completely back up your 10 gigabyte hard drive - onto zip disks or floppy disks.

27. Clean out the gook that’s accumulated between the keys on the keyboard.

28. Start working on the novel you always wanted to write.

29. Start working on that big project for work you’ve been putting off.

30. Set up Quicken or Quickbooks and add a year’s worth of accounting data.

31. Read your email again. There’s likely to be more mail.

32. Google something

33. Poke somebody on Facebook

34. Post something on a blog (like right here )

35. Read somebody else’s blog

36. Starbucks just feels absolutely inviting and you HAVE to have that tall Caramel Frappaccino

37. Decide the laundry just can’t wait.

38. Laugh at the computer screen in the library and then stealthily check to see if anyone is watching you amused.

39. Look at your vacation planner

40. Go out shopping, only to remember you have no money ..

41. Google “Ways to Procrastinate” and compile a list on your blog just so you could be productive.

Okay thats it. Stop with the eye rolling, tsk tsking. Back to being productive now. Really ;)

The New 7 Wonders Revealed!

After much hype and months of voting, the New 7 Wonders of the world were finally revealed today in Lisbon, Portugal. The event was a massive affair with hosts Ben Kingsley,Hillary Swank, and our very Bipasha Basu. I claimed my vote several months ago and was thrilled to bits when our very own Taj Mahal was revealed as one of the 7 wonders. Yes yes, my Indianta jaagofied and goose bumps tickled my skin. So? Whats the big deal? Taj Mahal has been on the “unofficial list” for a long time, no? Why do I have to go out and prove and vote for Taj? We know its good enough!?True that, but it never got the international attention that it will now get. The tagline throughout the show was “Our heritage is our future” and apna heritage would have slowly given away to pollution, corrupt government maintenance, etc etc.

However, this global event(or such) was not devoid of its own share of controversies Continue Reading »

Money Thoughts of the Day

This is my absolutely lousy attempt at procrastinating ( even more ). Pssst, I hope B doesn’t read this or he is going to call me and advice me to study instead of wandering in the web gardens wasting my time, but still couldn’t resist posting some thoughts noted a while ago.

Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons.

- Woody Allen

Another one:

If you want to know what a man is really like, take notice of how he acts when he loses money.

- Simone Weil

And a better one:

“Sometimes I tend to have an out of money experience”

- Anonymous :D

The last I can relate too, thanks to a wonderful thing called student loans!

Just Coz

Teri yaad yaad, teri yaad yaad…..

Its about 12:45 am right now and I am missing B terribly! We are used to talking to each other everyday, first thing in the morning, last thing before going to bed and millions of times in between. People around us wonder what all we have to talk about and how we can call each other and TALK on the phone so many times a day. Ab to bas, ek aadat si ho gayi hai! So right now, Mr. B is in Hyderabad for a cousin’s wedding, eating wonderful hyderabadi food, dancing, singing, running errands, and having a gala time with family! And I am here just missing him. The schedule is off na (yea yea I am that desperate to talk to him!) Just talked to him a while ago but that was a blink and you miss phone call. Don’t want to keep calling him and have his family wonder “hey bhagvaan what a clingy fiance” ( thats right! Thats what I am supposed to be according to mommy dearest. I argued that “girlfriend” is technically correct since I dont have the official **rock** but Mum said he’s now you “fiance!! what transformation and progress na?) But I AMMMM needy and I neeeeeeeeeeeeed to talk to him. :(

SO….since I can’t! this blog has to bear the brunt! I sms’d him that he needs to get me a ticket to India and voila…we had our very own version :”ticket to bollywood!” song Aaaaah I am just ranting, I think I will go crazy if I don’t talk to him for more than a day, make that twelve hours! Tis true, you only realize how important one is to you when he is far away. I take those everyday phone calls for granted and now when these times come around, its time for some philosophical reflection (Kaush the Freud at work here). I miss him soooo much! Maybe somewhere somehow through the cobwebs of coding and wiring, this message gets to him and he calls me so I can hit the sack peacefully! Sigh. Okay rambling over. Not really but there isn’t much I can add to the rambling besides the fact that I am just having one of those days/nights whatever…its just one of those - you need to get here right now kinda miss you moments! Okay rambling over for real now.

Thank you to all for the birthday wishes. It was great! I got a record # of wishes on Orkut and that was amazing! Loved it loved it! I told B he needed to reply to the comments he got on the last post and he said “as soon as I get back from Hyderabad.” :-)

UPDATE: 1:23 am Tried calling him one final time before going to bed, a very annoying lady answered “Aapke dwaara dial kiya gaya number pahoch ke baahar hai.” Sigh.
