Oatmeal Diaries Days 4,5,6,7 and 8

Guess what? All of these days I have actually kept up with the Oatmeal. Apparently, I shouldn’t mix blueberries with milk. According to my mom, anything sour with milk is virrudh aahar so I decided today that I wasn’t going to incorporate blueberries in with the oatmeal but have a handful sometime later in the day. So all these days, I have had oatmeal for breakfast and am not yet tired. Turns out, I like cinnamon roll flavor the best. Tried Banana-bread flavor too but am not THAT great a fan. Of all the Quaker Instant Oatmeal packs that I tried, Cinnamon roll takes the cake – haven’t gotten to trying the Original pack yet.

Overall log: Tried 4 different flavors
Current weight: ** lbs, Total lost: still 1lb gained!
Dang it!
Maybe once the doodh ka halwa is totally gone, it will actually start making a difference.
And exercise? Aaaah we will eventually get to it too.

Oatmeal Diaries Day 3

Today was good and bad as far as the diet is concerned. Got up in the morning at 5:30 almost an hour earlier than I usually do. Made chai coz B was leaving for work and didn’t wanna wake mom up. Then I had some spare time so cooked up the oatmeal and had a good time checking out the latest decor blogs and enjoying my oatmeal + blueberries.

Also had my absolute favorite falafel for lunch and dinner! I think if I ever go live anywhere near the Mediterranean, I could survive on falafel alone! Oh and I had tried to stay soo away from the doodh ka halwa but gave in to several cravings today. Went shopping in the evening with mom and B. We ended up impulse buying the ring for B. We go pick it up tomorrow. I am super excited about it! We are FINALLY talking about the wedding and inko kya dena hai aur unko kya gift dena hai and all that. its all very exciting and scary at the same time.

in short todays log is as follows:
Cinnamon Roll Oatmeal (which btw is super tasty) 1/2 cup 2% milk and blueberries! also munched on some cherries and mango in the afternoon. I love fruits!
Current weight : ** lbs Total lost: I actually GAINED a pound.

Lay off the halwa, lay off the halwa, lay OFFFFFF the halwa!

Some Quotes

I came across some beautiful inspiring quotes today and want to save them somewhere. A place like this where I can come and read them over again during uninspiring times. I came across these while I was bloghopping. All of these are words to live by! Its almost as if some karmic power above is trying to tell me to stop comparing myself to others and trying to be perfect.

“The cause of your unhappiness is within you. If you try to find it anywhere else, you’re looking in the wrong place.”

“Replace each thought: Ill-will with good will, Hate with love, Frown with a smile, Nagging with praise,Tears with laughter, Despair with hope, Silent envy with generous congratulations.”

“There is a power within us that can lift us to the heights- if you get rid of the thought of futility and self-pity.”

- from AmitLs blog

“Comparing yourself to another person is unnecessary; you only need to look at your life and your needs to decide what is best for you.”

-from Unclutterer

“A good idea today is better than a perfect idea tomorrow.“

“It’s so easy to be paralyzed by the pursuit of perfection that you end up doing nothing!”

- from Decor8

Oatmeal Diaries Day 2

Phew. So I almost missed it the very second day. Was running late so had only chai for breakfast. Then came home for lunch but ma had made my fav moong and gujju kadhi. Couldn’t give it a miss, so had that. In the evening B and I went to “Rajbhog” to try it out so was full from that.

Then dinner…aaaah that I didn’t have. Replaced that with the oatmeal.

I tell you these things are very filling! Even a teeny tiny bowl.

Todays log: Maple and Brown Sugar w half cup 2% milk and blueberries
Exercise: hehehe
Current Weight ** lbs. Total lost = ummmmm lets not weigh today.
The maple brown sugar was good. But as I sifting through the flavors, theres a LOT of cinnamon. apple and cinnamon, cinnamon spice, cinnamon roll…phew! Lets see how much cinnamon I can stand!
53 days to go.

Here comes the Bride

Its less than 6 months until the wedding. To be exact, its now a mere 131 days until the wedding. So it is time now that a to-be-bride starts completely freaking out over her weight. Today I stand at ** lbs (true age omitted to protect the self-esteem of the person mentioned). I got what like a million pounds to shed before I get where I want to be. Okay let me face it, its not like I am in the first year of college that I can have that weight. Besides having a profession where I sit on a chair and just use my hands does not help. Then the other thing is that there’s no time to exercise. And the excuses will go on.

Anywho, so a patient told me the other day that if I had one pack of Quaker Instant Oatmeal with a little bit of milk and blueberries every morning, not only would my cholesterol go down, but I will lose weight like I was unbloating or something like that. So out I went to Sam’s Club and bought a bulk pack of Variety Quaker Instant Oatmeal. 55 packs total. So 55 packs of Quaker Instant Oatmeal and loads of low fat milk ( I absolutely hate the fat free kind. WAY too thin for me). Okay so 55 packs of Quaker Instant Oatmeal, loads of low fat milk, a dozen bunches of blueberries and 55 days total – here I come.

Lets see if this really works. I resolve to eat one pack a day, preferably in the morning. If I miss it, have one in the evening. Am NOT cutting out any of the yummy stuff from my life ( B just got the most delicious doodh ka halwa from India) but practicing moderation (and try very hard at it). I am not sure how much exercise I will get in between. The treadmill gathers dust everyday (there’s no flatscreen tv in that room). I also resolve to keep this blog as my diary and my readers as my motivators if there are any.

I will also convince myself that if I do end up losing weight, I shall continue the process beyond the wedding ceremony. Its not just to look pretty in a red lehnga but to be healthy forever (yea right! we’ll talk in a year or so).

So here goes.

Todays log: Apple and cinnamon instant oatmeal with 2/3rd cup 2% milk and blueberries.
Exercise: none
Current Weight ** lbs. Total lost = Big fat O
First impressions: It tastes good but it takes FOREVER to finish a bowl. One pack is enough to keep me full. Like a meal!
54 days to go.

I just realized its been a YEAR since I updated this blog. Holy moly.
